Kitchen Kaper Swap

The lovely "Tuesday Girls" organised another swap...we needed to include:

1.  One Tea towel - either bought or handmade..
2.  One Cookie Cutter
3.  One Spatula
4.  A Recipe Card.. (Add your favourite recipe to the card)..
5.  An Individually wrapped cookie..

I sent this to O'Faigh

and I received this lovely collection of goodies - from Jan (Little Red Hen) - those cookies were hand made and were very yummy - lucky they made the photo at all!!!
and the cookie cutter says "Eat Me"   ...how cute.

(oops - its upside down - sorry...)

Another fun swap.
Looking forward to the next one...a Claytons Christmas swap.

FNSI - June

Time for another cyber sewing party !!  Thanks Wendy for continuing to host us.

My FNSI turned into WSI (Weekend Sew In) - my husband is in Melbourne for the weekend so I invited BF over to have a mini retreat.  So a lot of Friday night was organising rather than sewing but I was there with you all in spirit.

Had a full on Sewing day on Saturday and more today (Sunday) and have done a lot of cutting and deciding on fabrics - not a lot that is worth showing but I have done some more on my Pretty Little Sydney cross stitch.

Cyber Party Wrap Up

Sunday Night wrap up:

I have finished those dots - don't look too closely!!  And the tiny silver bits that were missing - so that is a Finish...still need to make something with it . . .???

I organised the bird house block

and I've finished my flowers for a row quilt that I am working on . . .

Thanks Chooky for a wonderful excuse to get things organised and done...its been very motivating.

Pop over here if you'd like to see what everyone else got up to.

Cyber Party Progress

Friday Night
A little treat to go with the party theme:
Firstly, I did some "design" work - the next block in Bluebird Lane has some bunnies...I don't have a thing for bunnies at all...so I've decided to create a birdhouse...I think I will still make changes to this but at least I have a "plan".

Then I organized my supplies for Saturday and did a bit of stitching on this...

Saturday - Day
After a wet drive down the highway. for sewing with my group - Loose Threads, I finished this one ....

and did some of the dots on this one...tedious but they are getting better as I go.

Happy with what I got done - I hope everyone else is having a fun cyber party.

The party continues...

Cyber Party TIme

It's time to celebrate with Chooky again...

Chooky has invited us all to join her cyber party - its lucky that it always coincides with Group #1 Sewing day (Saturday) and I hope to sew Friday Night
(even though FNWF is next week) and why not some more on Sunday??

Tomorrow the weather is expected to be "torrential downpour"
...we do need rain...
but not 200ml in one go   (that would be about 8" in the old speak...)

So, if you haven't done so already...
pop over here and link up.......
I'd love to be there in person....
but a cyber party is fun too.

Better go find something to sew . . . .

Christmas Table runner

Just a small finish for this month..and not a long term UFO - but a finish is a finish!!

My bestie gifted me a fat quarter of beautiful gold fabric with houses last year - she knows I have a thing for houses...I started to put it together in February on retreat but didn't get very far....

It's not specifically Christmas but the gold means I will probably use it at Christmas time.

FNSI - May

Gosh a month goes quickly!!  Seems no time at all since we were gathering for FNSI in April.

I spent a while tidying up the ends of some quilting I had done and then I worked on my cross stitch...

A lot of areas to be filled in - but the top section is almost done...about to start on Centrepoint.  I'm really enjoying this - a nice change from stitcheries etc...

I hope everyone had a happy and productive time.
Thanks Wendy - its always a fun cyber gathering.

A Cup of Tea Large Enough...by Sarah Fielke

In August 2013 I made a tea cup block to send to Sarah Fielke...I've often wondered what became of all the blocks she collected ...Quilters Companion (no 79) has her finished quilt...I had to go back and see what my block looked like:

and I found it in the quilt...(in the black square...above the "e" in large enough).

A fun quilt - but maybe not everyone's cup of tea??

Feeling so sad

Many of you in blog land will have seen profile pictures of portrait quilts made by a wonderfully creative lady - Carol Turznick - in the States. I have one - and I think I may have been the first in Australia...I love my portrait and will treasure it for ever now.
I read today that she passed away over the weekend.  She had been unwell - but undiagnosed - since November last year - but had kept her blog going showing envelops that she decorated for her nieces when she sent books, her knitting projects and a list of the books she had read.  We had often had little chats going back and forth over cyber space and I truly admired all her work... colourful, zany & very artistic.

The patchwork/craft world has lost a wonderful person.

If you'd like a look at her blog, its here
