Heartstrings by Natalie Bird

A few of us at Sunday Stitchers decided to make Heartstrings by Natalie Bird. we set various "goalposts" so that we stayed on track.  
I finished the top in December 2021.

We made the deadline for the finished top to be November 2022 as we will be away from our normal meeting place in December.

Plesed to say it was done in time...yes, I changed the border, but happy with it.

The other Sunday Stitchers quilts are here - but it's a private group so just for my reference.

Heartstrings top finished

A group of us in Sunday Stitchers decided to work on Natalie Bird's Heartstrings quilt - and the goal was to finish the top by the December meeting.

It was a push but my top is finished.  I did change it - a bit/lot.  "Patterns are just a guide".
I made the hexie border a bit wider and then I could put blocks in the corner.  That meant that the small border as per the pattern was not really the right size - and I also found it a bit busy - for me anyway.  So I re-jigged the border - made bigger blocks than the pattern and added hearts in the corners - they are from Natalie's Red Home book - so "keeping it in the family".

I think I will also add a narrow border  . . That might be a Christmas holiday job!

We have decided to set a goal to have them 

quilted, bound and finished by December 2022 meeting - 

that sounds easy - (well now it does.)

Time is flying by . . .

Thanks to Cheryll who helps keep us on track with sewing & crafty projects . . . .so many things to finish off at this time of the year - and so much "secret" stuff.

The night started - as usual with a bit of crochet while watching BH&G - 

The larger yellow piece will end up with Red Orange & Yellow in one block .

Then I escaped to the sewing room and cut & sewed these - It is a possible vague idea for a border for something . . .

I'm lucky enough to have a sewing day tomorrow - 

I need some hand sewing . . .

I have a lot of projects to work on - 

but none of them are hand sewing that I can take . . .

back to the standby project I think.

Heartstrings Progress

My Sunday Stitchers Group had a "deadline" at the August meeting - to have the hexie border done.

The next and final stage is the outside border - mostly it is pieced blocks of 3" finished
..and very small pieces . .
I am pondering alternatives but am undecided for now.

I did a bit of tweaking to the hexie border...so I may as well keep on tweaking....LOL
