Christmas Table runner

Just a small finish for this month..and not a long term UFO - but a finish is a finish!!

My bestie gifted me a fat quarter of beautiful gold fabric with houses last year - she knows I have a thing for houses...I started to put it together in February on retreat but didn't get very far....

It's not specifically Christmas but the gold means I will probably use it at Christmas time.

FNSI - May

Gosh a month goes quickly!!  Seems no time at all since we were gathering for FNSI in April.

I spent a while tidying up the ends of some quilting I had done and then I worked on my cross stitch...

A lot of areas to be filled in - but the top section is almost done...about to start on Centrepoint.  I'm really enjoying this - a nice change from stitcheries etc...

I hope everyone had a happy and productive time.
Thanks Wendy - its always a fun cyber gathering.

A Cup of Tea Large Enough...by Sarah Fielke

In August 2013 I made a tea cup block to send to Sarah Fielke...I've often wondered what became of all the blocks she collected ...Quilters Companion (no 79) has her finished quilt...I had to go back and see what my block looked like:

and I found it in the quilt...(in the black square...above the "e" in large enough).

A fun quilt - but maybe not everyone's cup of tea??

Feeling so sad

Many of you in blog land will have seen profile pictures of portrait quilts made by a wonderfully creative lady - Carol Turznick - in the States. I have one - and I think I may have been the first in Australia...I love my portrait and will treasure it for ever now.
I read today that she passed away over the weekend.  She had been unwell - but undiagnosed - since November last year - but had kept her blog going showing envelops that she decorated for her nieces when she sent books, her knitting projects and a list of the books she had read.  We had often had little chats going back and forth over cyber space and I truly admired all her work... colourful, zany & very artistic.

The patchwork/craft world has lost a wonderful person.

If you'd like a look at her blog, its here

FNWF - May

Lovely relaxing Friday night - quick dinner and into the sewing and TV.
I did some more work on my favourite "pick up and go" project...a cross stitch... It's called "Pretty Little Sydney".  You can visit her blog  Satsuma Street..to look at her other patterns which are available via Etsy. (@craftnik on Instagram where I first saw this range of patterns)  There is a huge variety available - and they are pdf downloads so no postage and no waiting - assuming you have fabric and threads....

So this is where I was at Friday night...

Thanks everyone for your company - and thanks to our hostess with the mostess.
Mothers Day today...waiting for brunch...then a relaxing day...I hope...
I'll be off visiting some FNWF blogs

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums.

Stuff-a-Tin Swap from No Fuss Swappers

I joined in the second swap from the No Fuss Swappers - this time we had to stuff a tin - no real rules...but of course sewing oriented.

I found a lovely tin during my trip to Nundle and lined it - the lid can be used as pin/needle  cushion - and the bottom so things don't rattle around...We were allowed to include a small treat - it had to fit in the tin - I chose Fruit Tingles as Sarah - my recipient - is working on the Fruit Tingles Quilt from Sue Daley.

(So now you see what my FNSI - April project was)
I received this lovely collection of bits & pieces from Christine.  It includes a cute little zippered pouch in "my" colours and matching threads and buttons, a key ring & charm, pins, lace to match the fat quarter, a mini charm pack.  That tin was totally stuffed full!!!

Thanks again Christine

There is a new swap happening over on  to No Fuss Swappers ...
This time it's for some Kitchen goodies...
Pop on over here to sign up....it really is a nice simple swap -
and NO extras are allowed.
