#100 days100Blocks 2019

I joined Gnome Angel last year and made 100 blocks in blues and whites during the year.

My Sunday Stitchers' UFO challenge number for April was #2 - to make the flimsy for that project.  As they were all still individual blocks - that was a tough call - fortunately Easter and a lock down helped and I got it done - just!!

The blocks were - 50 8" x 8" and 50 4" x 8".  So i joined the 50 small ones and made 25 blocks and then did a 8 across and 9 down layout.  I originally had another plan in mind . .
.but didn't like it once I started to lay it out.  So went with this. 

My original plan was "just a quilt"...but it's a fairly good size for a queen sized bed, so it might end up there...(should have put slightly wider borders on...oh well...).
and I made the binding at the same time...supposedly that is a good thing to do...before you use the left over fabric for something else perhaps??

I have a few small  things to tick off my list and then I can work on next months's project...looks like more binding is needed...
Speaking of which .... I knew I should have been able to make more green binding when I made the last lot for the  WMQG (for the bush fire quilts) ...I found the rest of the fabric , so I made 4 more.

FNSI - September

DH is a Cats (Geelong) fan so it was a quick dinner and the AFL for him.
So I escaped to my sewing space . . . .
Sadly Geelong lost....

I spent my time prepping 10 blocks of my Kinship Fusion Sampler.

I got 2 sewn:

I still have (only have)  7 (out of a hundred) to cut... I haven't repeated a fabric (apart from white) and have quite a few blues still to use . . . but its getting harder to make a "pleasing combination".  I think I will be into my Balis for some of the rest of them.

I was also able to get a bit of stitching in during the day (lunch time):

This is (yet another) new project - Its a pre-printed panel (gotta LOVE pre-printed things) from Natalie Bird.  I've forgotten its correct name - Willowbrook is part of it.  The pattern she created for the panel is hexies with the stitchery in the middle.  There is a gorgeous range of fabrics that match, but I have gone for another range with some extras and probably some others from my stash.

Pretty happy with my efforts - and I am out sewing on Sunday so it should be a good  weekend for sewing progress.

FNSI - July

It was time - once again to join Wendy and cyber friends for a night (or more??) of sewing, crafting ...or whatever took your fancy..

I was determined to not waste a night, so after a quick dinner - watching BH&G, I crocheted for a bit....

Then off into SSS (Susan's Sewing Space) to whip up a few blocks for Kinship 100 Block Fusion Sampler (2019).   I've been posting a block a day since 1st July - it's supposed to be easy - one block a day!.   Does that really work for anyone?? - it doesn't for me - especially as I'm off to work most days...so I am getting ahead when I can.

These are blocks 22-25.   Some of them are quite quick...some not as quick...

I haven't really thought about how these will go together...

we still have a loooong way to go - 

although a lot of the blocks have a lot of white - 

there are a lot that don't like these - 

so maybe I will end up sashing them with a very dark navy or charcoal....

Yesterday was a sewing day for me,   One of my friends needed to raid my green stash for some trees, so she brought her blues over and I was able to cut these blocks during the day....the longest part is deciding which fabric goes with what.   I haven't run out off my blues yet - but her collection has been a great help.  Thanks Inca.

I posted this one early (or late Friday night) as I hope to get the the Redlands Quilt Show tomorrow and grocery shop (exciting...NOT) and I am out Sunday - sewing all day and a Birthday dinner at night....then I will have to go back to work for a rest!!!

Friday Night With Friends - June

mmm I may have been tempted by a new project . .  .I really should avoid social media....The Gnome Angel ...Kinship 100 Block Fusion Sampler...blame it on IG.....
So Wednesday night I cute a few blocks and sewed a few.....Today (Friday afternoon after work, I cut a few more and sewed a couple . . . .I need a bigger design wall - or to move some  decorative stuff off the other half!

Here are some of the blocks and the pile of prepared blocks sitting on my design boards....
(I knew there was a good reason to finish off those last 3....)

I am making this from any blue I have in my stash and white homespun.   I had some spare cut lengths of white so thought I'd use that - but it looks like I will have to get some more white.   For the blues, I am hoping to use only what I have or what I can beg from my buddies...LOL

I'm about half way through the blue drawer - but I have blues in the bali stash and in the any prints...and ...elsewhere!
There will be 50 8" blocks and 50 4"x 8" blocks and they are all pretty simple piecing ones.
