Quilt Diva

This is one of those quilts that I just had to make - it is so "me" that I couldn't resist.  Its a commercial pattern - which I followed almost to the letter - very unusual for me.  I added  a few special touches.  The earrings are small wooden cotton reels - I wound thread around them and formed them into drop earrings.  You might also see I have a very small toy mobile phone attached to the suitcase.

I use this quilt as a place to keep all my special sewing related buttons and badges.

I entered this quilt in the local show (lie a very mini royal easter Show for those who know that) and won 1st prize in the category.  (I suspect it was the visual impact - rather than the technical side that got the judges!).
She hangs in my Sewing "area".

Breast of Friends

This quilt is coming together - its been a lot of work - but as there is a deadline to have it finished by January 31st I am very motivated.
Here are some sneak peaks - before the border goes on:

I am really happy with the way it has turned out and will take some better pictures - outside this time as soon as I can.

As to quilting it - well it's a bit of a monster so I am a bit undecided about that.

Sewing Machine Cover:
I embroidered the front, back, top & sides and made a Sewing Machine Cover.  I used a variety of sources for the drawings.
Here are some of the pictures:

Other Projects

Bags:
I thought it was time to add in a few pictures of other projects that I have made in the past.  I had a bag making frenzy for a while and here are some of the results - as you can see an easy pattern that was very repeatable.

Breast of Friends Blocks 1 & 2

Here are blocks 1 & 2. I still have a few embroidery bits to add to all my blocks and the borders. I am waiting till it all starts to come together before I do them. I have included the fabrics that were my starting point. The tulip one will be the majority of the border.

The faces do look a bit ghostlike, but they will improve with some eyes and lips.

Here are the doves:

This is a bowl I made after attending a Sewing Club day at my local Patchwork shop. I was so keen, it was finsihed before dinner that night!.
Hi everyone

This is my first posting. I am working on the Breast of Friends Mystery Quilt, published by an Australian magazine - Homespun - so far I have done bits or all of blocks 1 thru to 9. I have been quilting on and off since the early 1980's. Before that I tried all sorts of crafts - dressmaking, crochet, wood work, weaving, cake decorating, bobbin lace to mention a few. these days its mainly patchwork - including a lot of projects with hand stitcheries, althougb ocassionally I break out the knitting needles or take up the cross stitch - got a couple of UFO's in that department as well as more than a few in patchwork. Oh well I am sure I will live in perfect health for at least another 50 years so they will all get done!! (he he)

Ok now I better work out how to add some pictures to my blog.

Cheers everyone

Susan
