Chookshed Challenge #5 - July - Libbie's Embroidery Blocks - More Progress

Ssshhh . . ..Don't tell the Quilt Police.

My #5 was to finish a quilt - i.e. quilt & bind it . . .mmmm....I decided it was too big for me to do so i am going to get it quilted....so, it will have to be a Challenge Project later in the year.

I decided to swap it with "more progress on Libbie's Embroidery Blocks", which was also last month's project - here.
The draft layout needed to change . .sigh....but as the block borders had been cut, I decided to make my goal for July to attach them.   DONE.  👍

And to re-draft the layout.
DONE.  👍

The kit had 10 small heart blocks - but the words on them didn't really align with the bible verse.  So Libbie wanted only 9 - as well as the larger heart block...she had done a plan . . .but trying to make it look "OK" in my head wasn't really working.  The kit also had 2 smaller rectangular pieces which Libbie had stitched....so I cut bits of graph paper and played (whilst grumbling)  . . .

I came up with this  - this has been approved and I am not letting her change her mind. . .LOL

That will have to be enough for "Libbie's Embroidery Blocks - Progress" for now.

Thanks, Deana - any motivation is good for me at the moment.

What will August be???   There aren't too many left.

And again, I apologise if I don't reply to your comments...
I really have not had the time to investigate and correct it.

Sunday Stitchers #3 - Be My Neighbour - Progress

This month's MOJO/Challenge project is to finish the top of Be My Neighbour.

This is a quilt I worked on with the lovely Fiona.   Naturally, she has finished her quilt...well ahead of me.   She did hers in pretty Tilda fabrics - quite a bit different to mine . . .LOL   Look here.

I had the rows made and had thought I'd join them at a retreat in November last year . . . here.
But "strangely"   (well, maybe not for me) - the rows were not all the same length....no idea how they went wrong, but I couldn't be bothered checking. . . .I made a few adjustments and got the rows joined.

I was able to clip it to a quilt already hanging up, no floor space big enough to lay it out and no handy quilt holder upperer...

It's a big one - about 65" x 88"...so it may need to go visit a long arm quilter.

Hexie Quilt - Bigs and Smalls

I saw this hexie quilt in Homespun a while back....and filed it away in my head for a "maybe, one day" project.  It is designed by Anorina Morris who sometimes joins in Chooky's Zoom sessions.  It is called - Bigs and Smalls.

Then Janice started it/made it . . .
here.

More temptation. . .or is it that Janice is a good enabler??? LOL

I have a collection of fabrics from quilts that I have made over the years...small bits that I have saved with the idea of making a sort of memory quilt.   Finally a plan to use them!!!!

I have made these hexies so far...they use the "memory of a quilt or project" fabrics.

Other hexies will be made in one colour each . . .background colour is yet to be decided.   This is a very long-term project.  But it's a handy one to take to stitching days...or other "waiting" opportunities.

I need:
143 x 6.5" cut squares
111 x 1" hexie flowers....6 made
8 x 2" hexie flowers
