We are making seasonal "things" - originally, it was to be a mini quilt - but we changed it a bit so you can make whatever you want.<br /><br />I decided to make different versions of my house. The seasons don't really vary much in sub-tropical Brisbane and I am not into pumpkins which seems to be the usual choice, so I included a bit of orange as flowers in the garden.<br /><br />I suspect an architect or technical drawer would be horrified, but this is a fair representation of our house.</span><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; We also spent time enjoying Lynda opening her presents.<br />this year we are gifting presents that start with each person's initials - L G & B for Lynda<br />I bought her:<br />a <b>B</b>obbin <b>B</b>ox<br />a <b>B</b>lue <b>B</b>owl filled with a <b>L</b>ime, <b>G</b>rapes & <b>B</b>lueberrires<br /><b>G</b>uterman thread in <b>L</b>emon, <b>G</b>reen &<b> B</b>lue<br />ric rac in <b>L</b>emon <b>G</b>reen & <b>B</b>lue</span><div><span style="font-family: arial;">a <b>B</b>ubbly <b>B</b>unny (a chocolate)<br />a <b>G</b>lue Pen refill<br />and </span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;">a packet of <b>L</b>olly <b>G</b>obble <b>B</b>lissbombs<br /><br /> But we had a fun time and talked about current & future projects...LOL<br /><br />For FNWF - I sewed a lot of 3.5" squares together to make 14 sets of vertical rows for the two RSC 2023 quilts. (10 to go plus some fill in squares...)<br />I have the horizontal rows done. I have a retreat coming up at the end of March, so hope to put it together then - taking advantage of the large design walls.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzSnBhggMVVbU5Rw9k9xZ9yNb0McQLPHQJPQDuLEdFL3e01LB-Rc0qTwCKuqDNC9RUI89KhYsE7v24LtVHa1r77dJNB0Abxmk4AHzUz0wh5DRMnkBchFyX8NubD2S22OUMT6X5YVRLFMdQNQvtvMfA-iQ2tCc1qJ2qbeYOkiSI6QHRRgkhY8Z8uFTM4n4z/s3264/IMG_1655.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzSnBhggMVVbU5Rw9k9xZ9yNb0McQLPHQJPQDuLEdFL3e01LB-Rc0qTwCKuqDNC9RUI89KhYsE7v24LtVHa1r77dJNB0Abxmk4AHzUz0wh5DRMnkBchFyX8NubD2S22OUMT6X5YVRLFMdQNQvtvMfA-iQ2tCc1qJ2qbeYOkiSI6QHRRgkhY8Z8uFTM4n4z/s320/IMG_1655.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Thanks Cheryll for hosting us - I hope everyone had a fun time.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09240985402610409417noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7289741603782201848.post-29892129015074238822024-02-02T23:35:00.004+10:002024-02-02T23:35:42.211+10:00FNWF - February<span style="font-family: arial;"> A few of us gathered in cyber space for FNWF.<br /><br />I worked on this project for most of the day. When I wrote up/revised my list, I thought I should concentrate on the things that needed to be done - rather than the "want to do" projects, so I substituted a bag that I had promised to make for bestie Maureen.<br />She saw a wallet at a craft show. . . ."I can make that for you" I said.<br />She provided the fabrics and zips etc . . . .<br /><br /><h3 style="text-align: center;">😛</h3></span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br />It is a machine embroidery design - so you make each section using the embroidery machine and then put it together using a normal sewing machine. It's a Sweet Pea design and they kindly provide videos to show you how to do it . . well how the very expert sewer does it.<br />The guy making it in the video referred to is as a"substantial" project - especially when turning it back the right way . . .I think he meant "challenging:...LOL. He also mentioned that a particular bit may produce "some vocabulary". They featured vases of flowers. I did one...if you can see the date... it's 85...almost 40 years ago.....[....hanging head.....]. (No number will be mentioned....)<br /><br /><b>THEN </b>along comes a Chooky Zoom meeting & Deana suggests a 10 item UFO list...and even though I wasn't in the Zoom meeting at the time, I was roped in . . .<br />Easy I thought - I have things on the To Do List that aren't required by a specific date, I'll add them....but the "hint" was given that #3 could be EPP (none of that), #4 - a panel (I have one but it wasn't on my 2024 list), #5 a Kiwiblock or quilt (well, that is new, but one block is easy enough), #6 - Anni Downs bag from Scrub Stitchin' 2023 (mmm - I hadn't included that before...) and #8 - the free Anni Downs stitchery for 2023 Christmas (that is an extra one too).<br />Oh well, I'm in - I have updated my SideBar to make myself accountable.</span><div><span style="font-family: arial;">They may not all happen, but I will give it a good shot.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a great idea Deana - hope I can stick with it!!</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsvdYLfxzrg_upIUIfeojK_QdtFxcM4CwWFdiaHipUY8OT9louNYQGGgPT8-hpRXIAQMGiGbqJfRKtW1r89yc_UNon4L0Wh0M1iLF8b7z4ObMLtMkaCnFu7uUgmsjZTfvmASFDZUji5K5I0N1Hj6Vry7Ee-Yic1EWTZcGFATzqcJQwTnQPLhcjjh8kwW5J/s320/Chookshed%20stitchers%20badge%20final.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="320" data-original-width="320" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsvdYLfxzrg_upIUIfeojK_QdtFxcM4CwWFdiaHipUY8OT9louNYQGGgPT8-hpRXIAQMGiGbqJfRKtW1r89yc_UNon4L0Wh0M1iLF8b7z4ObMLtMkaCnFu7uUgmsjZTfvmASFDZUji5K5I0N1Hj6Vry7Ee-Yic1EWTZcGFATzqcJQwTnQPLhcjjh8kwW5J/s1600/Chookshed%20stitchers%20badge%20final.png" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: arial;">I have also started my PlannedProjects for 2024 and posted the SS UFO Progress Challenge list. #9 is the project for January.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br />On a side note - my eldest daughter is visiting from Townsville....she saw my collection of zippy pouches, so I showed her what was in each one. We started with a Nancy Halvorsen pattern and for the last 2 years, we used a design from her set of patterns. There are 12 in total so there is a fair bit of choice.<br /><br />Last year I suggested we could stay with the same shape - but maybe do a different design - everyone was happy with that idea.<br /><br />This year I made this stocking - using a machine embroidery design - it went to Lynda.</span><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid1YM5_0ss5Vp8_qtmH9Bda-IM8xbW3sqdLs38bFZoCzW5RWd7NJ1_fPA4TKvTQxayH5nxDI2xm6_7mfTC3rwfNF0hEdaNUJu-7k0u7ZMK6aEql9FbN5MRGP1qdM7FH6yZDirm9IpuQP_e3YHX0CIOOWvrKjQWsjYhdKgMA5wgLvy_Zfvf0HRiOPPNVMwJ/s3264/IMG_1543.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid1YM5_0ss5Vp8_qtmH9Bda-IM8xbW3sqdLs38bFZoCzW5RWd7NJ1_fPA4TKvTQxayH5nxDI2xm6_7mfTC3rwfNF0hEdaNUJu-7k0u7ZMK6aEql9FbN5MRGP1qdM7FH6yZDirm9IpuQP_e3YHX0CIOOWvrKjQWsjYhdKgMA5wgLvy_Zfvf0HRiOPPNVMwJ/s320/IMG_1543.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div><span style="font-family: arial;">I received this one - from Nor. Charcy's never fails us!<br />The menu is extensive - burgers, fish & lots of extras!</span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;">I settled for a bacon and egg roll with sweet potato scallops. Doesn't look exciting but it tasted good!<br /></span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0X6bZCO8DxBLBQZB80X3kvCzZW-JrKgzn8vI9QdEr8ACJfEDNmNGGX2QCJndMbt-IGbCoTkVXaMyILh2Um32EZffwQvOwIJaNKLQ9Z2tP_0pzkPZf8PbcgzhEoA6K0gP9rFlgNLFPpvBY0JwBrtnD6lsmEAHn5yHcm4h4FyioczBrahuiaDWNmpidjPgg/s6528/IMG_1554.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="6528" data-original-width="4896" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0X6bZCO8DxBLBQZB80X3kvCzZW-JrKgzn8vI9QdEr8ACJfEDNmNGGX2QCJndMbt-IGbCoTkVXaMyILh2Um32EZffwQvOwIJaNKLQ9Z2tP_0pzkPZf8PbcgzhEoA6K0gP9rFlgNLFPpvBY0JwBrtnD6lsmEAHn5yHcm4h4FyioczBrahuiaDWNmpidjPgg/s320/IMG_1554.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><br /><br />At the last retreat we had a challenge project - to make a zippy pouch and Sandi kindly stitched out a logo for us to incorporate. She gave us some spares too. The original pouch is <a href="https://susans-sewing-space.blogspot.com/2022/11/needle-girls-retreat-november-13-17.html">here</a>.<br /><br />At that retreat, Mdm Organiser (aka Sandi) - challenged us to make something to go with our zippy pouch for 2023.<br />That's easy I said to myself as I had plenty of fabric and I AM a matchy-matchy sort of person....(I may have acquired a bit more of the fabric - in case - during the year too.)<br /><br />When I went on a retreat in March - as no one in that group also attends this retreat, I made 7 things. Things that I use at a retreat - Sewing Tidy, Foot pedal mat, Scrap bucket, Bag for a thread stand, Snappy pouch for the rotary cutter/s, 2 coasters (one wine, one coffee??), Bag for charging cables and plugs, </span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmAgcdbmSiA4qf6o3a61ZXlJixtGMb4mPSdmr2NA3lQVRfAHB7lyMdsv0S4A5iYkKlMLcdua_bOirjBOqh_1O4ia6S0ECDWQ474POJm6PA1CAJCLJ6tPJ73AktaCqv3RtpmYymZNBdnHaS5gWwwxYuUgucs8TuDpewKXY7meF_Nf1LZ68BCEM0zCacT61Z/s6528/20231107_142703.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="6528" data-original-width="4896" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmAgcdbmSiA4qf6o3a61ZXlJixtGMb4mPSdmr2NA3lQVRfAHB7lyMdsv0S4A5iYkKlMLcdua_bOirjBOqh_1O4ia6S0ECDWQ474POJm6PA1CAJCLJ6tPJ73AktaCqv3RtpmYymZNBdnHaS5gWwwxYuUgucs8TuDpewKXY7meF_Nf1LZ68BCEM0zCacT61Z/s320/20231107_142703.heic" width="240" /></a></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br />I thought that was plenty of things . . . .no number had been mentioned....<br /><br />BUT . . . in our chat group, someone indicated that "someone else (aka Mdm Organiser)" had made 12 things . . .so the challenge was on!!!<br /><br />In September I was on yet another retreat - and we had a mystery project (it ended up being a square bag) - so I did it in matching fabrics...well...why not??
