Green Sashiko Ferns

A long time ago . . .I signed up for this BOM.  Green Foliage Quilt from Indigo Niche.  But I've always called it Green Sashiko Ferns.

It seems I started it in April 2012...and finished stitching the sashiko in April 2013.
Then it sat . . .
It became a flimsy in 2017 at retreat .
Then it sat . . .
Finally I sent it along to the wonderful quilting guru Fiona who has quilted all around the leaves...very painstaking, but it looks wonderful.
Then it sat . . .but only for a bit this time.

I added the binding and finished the hand stitching during two Zoom meetings.

Glad to call it a finish.

The resident quilt holder upperer wasn't available so these will have to do for now.

FNSI - August

Tonight DH, DD2 and DDBF (DD Boyfriend/Partner) went to the NRL footy - change of pace for DH as he is an AFL fan...but I digress..
So I had the whole night free - home early (so he could get to the match on time) and leftovers from last night for dinner.

Retreat is less than one week away (that would be 7 sleeps!!! YAY!!!) - I am still prepping projects - some are ready but I have one that I have been meaning to get off the list for ages - hopefully I will be successful and come home with a flimsy.

It's a a sashiko project - green ferns and plants.
I had to trim the blocks back to 15 1/2" and cut the sashings - isnt it scary cutting those first few blocks???...no spare blocks, no extra fabric - fortunately - after a lot of measuring and counting I got them done.   All packed.

I also had anther project to do some cutting for - its a bit of a secret so you will have to wait. And finally a bit of tracing ready for a new project that I will work on on Sunday.

Sashiko BOM - Block 1

I went to the Brisbane craft show in March and saw a quilt from Indigo Niche in sashiko.  This was a bit different to the usual  navy/white and it caught my eye. 
I have finished Block 1 - it was easy enough as the design is already printed on and its a simple running stitch - once you master the huge needle and thick thread (and long length compared to my normal stitcheries).

One block done - 8 to go!
