Retreat - 2014 - Day 2

A full days sewing today - well after a late-ish start - then again I am on holidays so who wants to be up at the crack of dawn??

By mid afternoon Saturday....
An ironing mat...mug bag and matching coaster...

and #1 I Spy/Novelty top all put together.

I have also put together several blocks of my "French Collection" set...more to go when I can lay it out a bit....

I haven't taken many photos of the food - its always scrumptious - but here is tonight's dinner...

and the "progress board" at about 10:00pm.

Another pic... This is a quilt made by Fay.  She has been a member of our group since day 1 but this is the first time she has been able to come along...she has churned through her work and put this one together....

That's Fay on the left.

Rachel's pile of hexagons she is cutting

FNWF - August

I joined in with all the other FNWF'ers but not a lot I can show for my efforts this time round.
I did some tracing and ironing of circly shapes for my row quilt and I can't show that though these may or may not be a hint:

I really love this fabric so if its missing from YOUR bag when it's returned you will know who to look at!

I filled a lot of bobbins ready for next weekend - not very exciting that part.

I sorted a few things ready to pack...Very boring.   But all necessary.

I hope to do better next time.  Hopefully you were all a lot more productive.

Friday again

Today is Friday Night With Friends so I hope to spend time with my cyber friends, sewing or prepping or whatever I end up doing.

And - looking to the right I can see. . . its only 7 sleeps til I go on retreat.
(well, truthfully I don't need to look at the counter - its firmly implanted in my head!!!  LOL)

I have been sending daily emails to all the gang and found this image to include a few days ago:

that just about sums it up!

I have 3 projects all packed & sorted out my clothes (its going to be warm during the day)...
Eagerly anticipating.

Looking forward to everyones' company tonight.

Aussie Hero Quilts - July BOM

This month's BOM block was a map of Australia on a plain (ish) background.  I made a few back here, but last weekend I finished off another few - 11 in total - all on their way to Sydney.

Sunday Sewing - North Pole block

Today I sewed with a group I belong to - the Kianawah Quilters - we've been sewing on Sundays for quite a while now - today was a Christmas Sewing in July day... There was "a project" but in the spirit of trying to finish more than I start...I worked on a North Pole block.
This is the Elves' Bunkhouse - I hope they can sleep peacefully in this colourful house.

I did a few other things as well, but its time to link up to Val's blog so I'll just show this one now.

Tonight I am busy cutting - need to get a move on to get my projects ready for  . . . you know what!!! - just 12 sleeps. . .

A quick one

I am having a quick lunch break at work and thought I would post this little image...

BUT - I popped over here before I did that and found some amazing stuff.  I am sure most of my "readers" also read Maria's blog - but if you don't - just go there today - especially if you live in SEQld - what a sight this must be...
A hint??? - "The Knitted Kitchen".

FNSI - July

Last night was spent in the company of 56 other like minded souls all over the place - sewing away.  Had a few emails with a fellow hexie maker - we kept each other going - or was it the looming deadline??
I had a hexie row to finish for Sunday and as usual, I cant show you what I did, so I thought I'd show you what I to work with . .Lovely fabrics

We only have two more rows to make until we can do the "reveal".
Thanks Wendy for a being a charming hostess yet again - those apple turnovers sure looked good.
Pop over here if you want to have a fun time visiting.

PS - Do you see the "Days Until" counter over on the right - yep 3 weeks and I will be "on retreat" sewing away constantly - oh and maybe a bit of chatter, laughing, eating . . .Got a few thing to prep before but making progress on that.

FNWF - July

I joined in with 50 other stitchy friends on Friday night - I prepped some blocks for Aussie Hero Quilts and almost finished 3 of them.  This month for the BOM we are doing blocks with a map of Australia - with very clear instructions not to forget Tasmania!

If you'd like help out- go here for the pattern and the how and where info - or here to read about all work these ladies do for the military forces.  As they say - "It's not about the politics - its about the people".

Thanks to Cheryll for hosting and thanks for everyone's company - go here for the the list of all the cyber friends.

I'm off to a sewing day with friends - got some hexies to work on!
