Sunday Stitchers - July - UFO Challenge #4 - My Kinda Town top

For my birthday in 2022, I was gifted the pattern for My Kinda Town, a pattern by Laura Heine and Peggy Larsen...Happily enough the birthday celebration was early in the month and I had enough time to get the fabrics ready to make two blocks at the retreat that I went to in November 2022.

Then - at another retreat in June 2023, I made two blocks...I made another two in July  2023 when I should've been at a retreat...
By November 2023 (again at a retreat) I had all the blocks made.

BUT look at those grey pieces....and the words!

I know...we should read each pattern thoroughly before we start....but do we?
Not always & not in this case

So, working all that out got pushed to the side....I am still very disappointed that a pattern could be written like this.

When we decided to do the Challenge at SS - My Kinda Town had to be included. I have "filled the gaps" and the top is complete.

I really enjoyed making this.
I did NOT enjoy removing the paper...LOL

Quilting??  that may have to wait til 2025!

That was a strange way to write a pattern. However, you still managed to make a fun quilt. Yep, the papers would have been a pain to remove from all those pointy points.

Have have just been catching up on your blog susan, I am waaayyy behind in the reading of blogs, so while i am having lunch it is time for some reading. Glad to see someone is getting some sewing done, as other than trying to keep up with customer quilts, the sewing and stitching is zilch!!

Your top does look lovely Susan. I agree, what a strange way to write a pattern, as though she made the blocks but they were the wrong size so she just fudged it! And left you to fudge it too. How odd. But you got there and made a great job of it. xx

It's a shame with the wrong pattern... but you did it wonderfully :-))) Congratulations :-))
I took my first two tops to the longarm quilter after realizing that I can't quilt such large pieces on my household sewing machine... so I'll make little doilies every now and then :-)
A warm greeting goes to you. Nice top - yes. Thank you.

Well done on the finish and it looks great.
It’s really challenging when patterns aren’t written well. That’s what I’m finding with Wanderers Wife. And you are right we don’t read patterns properly. 😁

That is an odd way to write a pattern. You overcame the problem and have a wonderfully completed top.

What a great quilt, I like how you fixed up the 'gray area'.... not really what you expect but your result is stunning...

Yup, it's strange. Kind of like Lin said, she just fudged it to make things fit, and every neighborhood needs lots of trees so you did well with your fudging!

It is strange and an unusual to write instructions, you have a beautiful quilt top though, well done to get it together.
