Project Bag with a difference

A recent trip to Craft Alive at Toowoomba resulted in 3 of us purchasing a "Mad for Plaid Project Bag".  It is made of nylon mesh.   Tempting as the bag is already made.
I chose the Lilac version - there were a couple of other colours available at the time....but when I searched online - there are 6 colours different colours - I found them at Rural Stitch Co - look here.
Of course, there was a lovely cross-stitch pattern that perfectly suited the bag.  'Stitch' cross-stitch pattern by Shepherds Bush.  I recently made 'Sew Mini Bag by Shepherd's Bush".  Here.  Though at the time I didn't realise I could buy the plaid bag.

It was awkward to sew on as it is quite firm, and of course, the back is exposed....I tried to keep it neat, but Perle thread (size 5) can be obstropulous!   (Defined as '
Unruly, defiant, noisy, or difficult to manage'...definitely that - apart from noisy!)

A quick project - I bought it Friday 6th March - Finished about the 23rd March!!!!!

  1. These mesh bags are big in Japan. I bought some fabric over there but haven’t used it yet

  2. Even though it was obstreperous to work it’s a pretty bag.

  3. the 'Stitch' embroidery is lovely and jollies up the bag beautifully. It's a day for words - hoolie is as I thought Scottish. A Hooley in Ireland is a boistrous party so apt for a noisy windy day too. xx

  4. I love the lilac bag and the Shepherd's Buch pattern. I attended the 'online' retreat Jingle Ball last December and took a class from Primrose Cottage on stitching on the bag. PC designed a chart called Merry Stitchmas and provided all the materials ahead of time that we needed for the class. It was easier than I thought. Their method flips the chart and bag upside down for stitching. I wasn't sure if my brain would work that way, but it did. Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

  5. No one is going to see the back of the stitching inside the bag but you and the stitch pattern is worth that!
